Sat Sri Akal,

My name is Dr. Tarveen Ahluwalia, and I am a Chiropractor practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area. The senior doctor that I work with and myself have recently started doing blood pressure screenings at the local Fremont gurdwara on Sundays. We have provided this service to the Sikh sadh sangat in the past, however we are in the process of broadening health education to the Sikh community at the gurdwara and in our clinic.

This request is an inquiry to find literature in Punjabi on relevant health related topics that I can give to my patients. Topics of interest would include but not be limited to arthritis, blood related disorders, cancer, diabetes, low back pain, and neck pain.

Having interacted with many elderly members of the Sikh community, I have come to realize there is a general lack of health education. Since I speak Punjabi fluently, I would love to be able to reach out to these individuals and possibly educate them on conservative means to prevent disease development.

Also, since I am an evidence-based practitioner, I would also appreciate further guidance to clinical studies that have been conducted on the East Indian community. This information should preferably be in peer reviewed journals and may not be in Punjabi.

Please direct me in the appropriate direction so that I can increase health awareness, and inevitably make a difference in our community. Any information will be appreciated. I can be reached at drtarveen@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Dr. Tarveen Ahluwalia
